The backpack is a good size but there are a few points.

This backpack was purchased for a 7 week combined holiday in Europe for work and pleasure. Not backpacking, to be perfectly clear. The backpack is a good size but there are a few things I don't like after the trip. 1) The small zipper for the front pocket snapped straight up - the zipper is still on the rail but the teeth are so mangled they won't hold together. I hardly used this particular pouch and it was still happening. I'm not sure how long the others will last. 2) The USB cable inside the backpack is extremely annoying. The backpack only has one or two proper spots to house the battery and when it's plugged in you can't access anything else in the backpack because the cable gets in the way. It also prevents you from taking the laptop out of your bag (at least where I put the battery). When not in use, there is nowhere to put it, so it gets in the way too. Very, very annoying. 3) The two pockets on the sides of the pack (what I would call water bottle pockets) taper down instead of flat. My water bottle didn't fit well and was moving. Additionally, each large water bottle will block part of the zipper path, making it difficult to fully open and unzip the backpack, which is required to remove larger items (including a laptop) from the bag. Overall the backpack was ok but I wouldn't buy another one.
