Pump not included. I bought a hose air regulator and even on the lowest settings my betta was nervous about blisters. He eventually got trapped in a tiny space around the floor and died. (It didn't suck, this filter doesn't have suction) I got a larger aquarium and used coral glue to glue aquarium rocks around the bottom of the filter. This solves two problems: the stones will cover up where my betta got stuck and prevent the filter from floating to the top. Before that I used an additional decorative clip with a suction cup to hold it in place. I'm sad to have lost my first Betta but my new baby seems to be handling blisters well and won't be able to get stuck in the tiny gap at the bottom.
