I have this emergency radio for our safety gear that we keep on hand but especially for hurricane season. First, I love the color. As we get our bags ready for the season and our supplies ready, it's nice to know that when we lose strength, this color will stand out. There are several ways to power the radio - clockwork, battery, solar. I feel like those options eh. You have to do a lot of spinning to get some power or you need a lot of time in the sun, but there's a battery. One thing that stands out is that we've seen that the battery is replaceable, but we can't figure out where it is or how to get it to replace it. So that's the "thing" for me. Not enough to lower the rating. The sound is light and good. Big plus: We can receive NOAA on this radio - important in hurricane season. We have a NOAA alarm for the house but this backup makes me happy. It's large, fits in a bag or plastic basket, and is easy to carry with you or take home. It's very important to stay connected when the storm hits and we believe this radio will help us do that. We hope we'll never need it, but the reality is we will eventually need it. I think it's a good choice for us and we're happy with it.
