Review on Scandicrafts 7-Inch Bamboo Pot Scraper Scrubber and Stiff Whisk, Ideal for Cleaning Cast Iron Skillets, Grills, and Food Scraping - Kitchen Cleaner and Grill Scrubbing Tool by Jessica West

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Hollow core - not what we expected

We've relied on this type of scrubber for years for a scratch-free, plastic-free cleaning of all our enamelled cast iron pots, stainless steel pots and pans and even our enamelled sink. When we ran out of supplies that we personally bought out of town, we tried this model through Revain. Unlike the models we've received from kitchen stores and Asian markets, this model has a hollow core that makes it less strong and stiff. It doesn't seem to last as long as solid beam scrubbers and is a lot less comfortable to hold, perhaps because the bamboo stretches more than we'd like. We believe they work best if cleaned quickly after cooking in hot or running water without soap. It's really difficult to clean a dry burnt pan or pot with this type of scrubber. I've been advised to dry heat the pan (or tap it while it's still hot if the food is burnt), turn off the heat, and then rub the burnt food with a large ice cube, being careful not to you don't burn your fingers. . Burnt parts usually come off quickly and rinsing with a light scraper is enough to finish cleaning the pan. If you want to start eating right away, you can grate an ice cube and leave the pan while you enjoy your meal. Be careful NOT to overheat non-stick pans!

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as others
