Failure of the 3rd unit - SURPRISE!

05/05/21 - After telling myself I would never buy one like this again I decided to buy a third device. I decided it was easier to swap out the controller than install a different brand block. The Price of Laziness. This one lasted the longest, but again the water inside the controller caused the failure. Your method of encapsulation is practically useless. The first two photos show both sides of the board as it originally was. Note that there is a large enough area at the bottom of the board…

THIS BLOCK IS GREAT!

THIS UNIT IS GREAT! I BOUGHT IT FOR MY 2013 FORD 150. WORKS FANTASTIC. I WAS NOT WITHOUT HIM. VERY EASY TO INSTALL. ALSO A WOMAN WHO DON'T WORK IN VEHICLES I HAD NO PROBLEM. I ALSO USED FLEXIBLE HOSE FOR WIRING AS OTHERS HERE SUGGEST. THIS SAVE THE WINTER IN WISCONSIN WITH SALT ETC ALSO MANY ZIPPER BINDINGS. UTUBE HAS VERY GOOD VIDEOS ON HOW TO CREATE INSTRUCTIONS. I LOVE THE SOUND SENSORS, THE COLOR WAS GREAT TOO. I WAS SURPRISED THAT EVEN THE SIZE WAS EXACTLY RIGHT. AT FIRST I FOUND IT TO BE…

Great quality, easy to install, there was only one problem.

I installed a camera system on my 2006 GMC double cab pickup. By running the cable along the door sills, through the cabin vent, and along the frame rails, I got enough cable to mount the monitor above the rear view mirror. Start at the back of the car and move forward. The only issue I had was that the camera view was shifted about 4-6 inches even though the camera was positioned right in the middle of the bumper. I called Hopkins customer service and the tech admitted that they have a number…

Beware of splice connectors

Spent 3 hours removing the tailgate trim on my 2009 Tahoe and routing wires. Since the license plate is on the back door, I connected the camera to the reversing light. I set everything up, tested the camera. Nothing. I guessed the bundled splice connectors and reconnected them a couple of times. Nothing yet. At this point I was very annoyed at the prospect of another 3 hours for disassembly and return, but instead ordered a multimeter (should have had at the start of the project!). Tests…

Good camera system for the price

When I first opened the package I found the license plate mount to be very crappy and overall wasn't expecting very good results. I installed it on a 2016 Ram1500 in about 35 minutes and everything went great. The 7-pin interface made things easy, and the biggest PIA was the efficient back-to-front cable routing. I found a spot high up on the firewall to get into the cockpit and installed a screen on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. It took about 3 more minutes to set up the…

Camera Blue Screen Fix

I bought one of these for my truck and my wife liked it so much she asked if I could put one in her car. Installing my truck wasn't a problem, but my wife's 2013 VW Beetle wasn't that easy. I pulled out the tail light to figure out which wires to connect. I installed and tested everything freely. Works great so I put everything back together. When that was done, the camera turned on backwards, but the screen was solid blue. Some research online has shown that low voltage at the camera/display…

  • Some Cons

As stated in my title: I have his first block 50002 bought about 3 years ago. My mechanic installed the system. The first block worked wonderfully. I give it 5 stars out of 5. It worked flawlessly (happened while the truck was reversing + VERY sharp image with great detail and clarity. It looked and worked (at least for me) = as good as any factory backup camera on a brand new truck. So, after 3+ years the first chamber started to fail (this could be the first sign or a wake-up call for a…
