Review on 📷 Hopkins Smart Hitch 50002 Backup Camera and Sensor System by Brad Blake

As stated in my title I got my first 50002 unit about 3 years ago Bought. My mechanic installed the system. The first block worked wonderfully. I give it 5 stars out of 5. It worked flawlessly (happened while the truck was reversing + VERY sharp image with great detail and clarity. It looked and worked (at least for me) = as good as any factory backup camera on a brand new truck. So, after 3+ years the first chamber started to fail (this could be the first sign or a wake-up call for a moisture problem.) I read (here) about what others experienced when water got in. I ordered another ( my second ) camera 50002 .when it arrived I just unplugged the old panel with the old camera and removed it from the license plate area.looked exactly like the other photos here, with water in it and a rusty and corroded circuit board electronics (including a capacitor which is totally rusted and fell out when I removed the back cover) Z = On a new fairing and cover I glued everything with silicone (where the wiring runs and along all seams. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU DO THIS = Seal the panel completely! (Another step might be to spray liquid sealant all over the outside of the plate.) ALSO = If you mount the license plate to the plate and then mount everything into the license plate area, the wires coming out of the camera plate will move around the base where they enter the plate (even if you have pre-fixed them with silicone). ). Therefore you will need to reapply the silicone during the installation of the new license plate location (make sure you do this carefully around any wires going into the fairing). I really like this camera and this system. Again, I give 5 stars out of 5 for its performance, but my rating here is 4 stars out of 5 due to this design flaw. So make sure you do these gasket modifications and you will be very happy with it.
