I needed something to mount my iPad to the control station (steering wheel) of my plane and it looked like a good alternative to the $180 version sold for the work was developed. The clip didn't stick very well to the oval, smooth plastic strap. I tried wrapping it with strips of rubber (like pieces of the inner tube) and that helped, but it still sagged over time. Finally I used several layers of rubber coated mesh to keep the rug from slipping and it feels thick enough to round out the oval shape and tacky enough not to slip on the yoke or clip. The clamp opens wide and is easily adjustable for fastening. The swivel head could do with a little more adjustment range, but it works. The iPad clip is easy to install and remove from the iPad, but I had to remove the cover. It would be a small design change to make the fingers a bit longer to allow the iPad to fit in the case. Overall I'm happy with 1/10 the price of the special design.
