I bought 3 pcs. On the first one, I overtightened one of the fittings and it became impossible to unscrew it. I ended up buying another one. On the second, I used a lot of Teflon tape around the connector threads, which worked well. The valve itself works great. So good that I decided to replace another check valve in my pool installation. Time will tell how well the internal mechanism holds up in chlorinated water and how well the plastic stands up to the sun's ultraviolet rays (pool gear gets a lot of sun exposure).
