I EE, bought this for a 9 year old who is very familiar with scratch programming and a little plain text python. The kit contains all the key items to get started with Arduino. Kid did the first few labs with little to no input from me, the diagrams were clear and there was a colored assembly drawing for each lab, making it easier to put the labs together for people who don't already know how to read the diagrams follows. The goal is to port this to an Arduino car chassis and for that the kit is great and includes all the necessary parts except for the chassis, motors and motor controls themselves. If there is no such end goal then kids may not be motivated enough to to complete the entire series of laboratory exercises alone. However, adults/students looking to delve into embedded systems and not interested in Linux behemoths like the Rasberry Pi will find this set invaluable for very little investment.
