Review on πŸ”Š Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II (Carbon): Compact & Wireless Audio Excellence by Jeff Leu

Better than expected.

Based on a silly amount of research and reviews, I bought a Bose SoundLink Mini II and a JBL Charge 3 to review to replace an outdated Monster Clarity Bluetooth speaker, the I have used for beaches/pools/holiday use. Disclaimer: I never liked anything about Bose. I always thought their product was overpriced crap for less demanding consumers. After reading a few reviews from sources I trusted, I settled on the MiniLink II and JBL Charge 3 as the best options for my needs. In addition to the purchases mentioned, I unofficially "checked out" several other friends' Bluetooth speakers. None of them were worth mentioning here. To sum it up (and to my surprise), the MiniLink II produced the highest quality sound of any wireless speaker I've tried. This is a device that I have kept and will continue to use. For context, I listen to Spotify almost exclusively on this unit and almost exclusively by the pool. In terms of music playback, I haven't compared anything to the MiniLink II for wireless audio in this price range. It puts out really high quality sound. However, it's not as loud as the JBL Charge 3. When it comes to sheer volume, the Charge 3 is significantly louder. does it matter? Well, if you're just looking for something to hear in a busy pool, the Charge 3 is your best bet. It doesn't have the bass or richness of the MiniLink II and doesn't reproduce audio as accurately, but it can reach higher volumes in larger gatherings. I'm not entirely sure if these are the top two devices for comparison, but if you're looking for great sound, go with the Bose. If you need volume, reach for the Charge 3. No one gave me anything for this review.

Pros
  • Powerful sound with deep bass for an immersive listening experience
Cons
  • Unreliable
