Great basket that survived my first bike ride!

Great suitcase I used on a 300 mile bike ride from New York to Boston. All my luggage (clothes for 5 days, bike lock/bike equipment and food) fit in the bag without any problems. I gave this 5 stars for spaciousness as I can easily adjust my gear and probably fit around 7 days of clothing and gear. Not quite sure how the camping gear would fit. The detachable top was lovely and very comfortable. However, being unable to remove the sides or properly latch the case to my bike made it a bit painful on tour (see below for the zipper issue). The case appeared to be waterproof and I had no problems in light rain. I don't know how it is in the rain. However, there was one major flaw and I don't know if it's me, my bike, or the design. The other baskets seem to clamp onto the bike rack. This basket comes with buckles that you need to use to wrap it around the rack and then has velcro on the side to attach the bags to the rack. Even on a test ride with no load, I found that the side bags were constantly dangling and rubbing against the wheel. The side straps basically didn't hold the bags in place at all and didn't stabilize the case. I was able to fix this problem with zip ties, but if I was cycling standing up or hitting a pothole, the whole case would shift and rub against the wheel or hit my bike. It wasn't hard at all. The basket was very strong and, despite constant friction, only had a small hole in the bottom. A lot of the comfort of easy undressing has been lost due to the zippers. Also, I haven't seen a clear way to attach it to the bike and close it. So I'm not exactly sure what you should do if you lock your bike and walk away from it.

  • Great overall performance
