They work pretty well for the price. I was disappointed in the quality, although I wasn't surprised by the low price. I would have gladly paid more for better but couldn't find anything that compares. I have one of those 35 year old belts. The fabric is thicker and stronger. The buckle is a heavier metal and still works great, never sticks. These new ones I just bought are often difficult to open because they are stuck and have to be force open. I'm still looking for the best military sliding belt, even at a higher price point, but haven't even come across one in regular sporting goods stores.
