Review on Verbatim 25GB Blu-ray BD-R LTH Disc 2X Single-Layer (Low to High Speed), 1-Disc 96569 by Sfl Richardson

Like other reviewers, Verbatim is generally considered better than most and most of their DVD+R and DVD+R DL products are among the best. I recently purchased the latest Buffalo TECHNOLOGIES 12X external Blu-ray burner with the latest updated firmware. I also have LG Blu-ray players. After trying to save 9 of my movies onto 9 VERBATIM discs, none of those 9 burned discs would play on the Buffalo. MY LG players worked slightly better, loading and playing, but due to disk consistency, each disk kept freezing and stopping. With the much cheaper 25GB BD-R "OPTICAL QUANTUM" (PHILLIPS), both my writer and players had no trouble reading and playing my discs. So the problem is with VERBATIM. I would advise VERBATIM to drastically lower the current Blu-Ray disc prices for single and double layer discs in order to align them with standard single and double layer DVD disc prices. GREED aside, there's really no reason to charge such exorbitant prices, especially for your 50GB drives, as I can now buy send, pre-recorded commercial movies on 50GB drives for a fraction of what you can try to demand. to movies like "ORANGE CLOCK" or "SPACE ODYSSEY 2001" at around $10 per movie is about 50% cheaper than VERBATIM for a 50GB disc! Do the math. This means that I can buy 2 commercials for about the price that VERBATIM charges for 1 blank. I would also like to say that I responded to a Revain advertisement (only for my order of 3 "Cake Boxes" of 20 discs each) which misleadingly advertised this product as "free shipping" which was definitely not free, and ended up costing me $8.95 for shipping and handling (and another $4 for me to send the order back to Verbatim, who advertises that they replace "LTH" discs with old VERBATIM BD-R discs that really work). therefore AMAZON, st. oh this scam! From beginning to end of your sales process, be genuine and honest with your customers and please stop promoting your right to free shipping when (1) it is not true; (2) THIS IS NOT FREE(!); (3) and you have to pay an excessive AMAZON annual fee just to get your order. And it's still not free!
