To use this tool slide the ring towards your ear and find the groove in the ring. Pass the wire through the groove and rotate the ring so the groove is on the opposite side of the wire. As soon as you start pulling on the wire, the ring slides down the conical part of the tool and clamps the wire without slipping, at least on barbed wire. Haven't tried it with high stretch yet so can't comment on how it works with that. What I like about it is that it doesn't have aggressive teeth that cut through the galvanizing into the wire without slipping. I also like that it has a big enough eye so you can use a tractor or ATV to pull the wire if needed. So far, so good. It hasn't slipped yet and has withstood any tension I put on the wire. To stretch long lengths of wire it's much more convenient to use my drive with a 10ft cable and pull everything at once rather than using a hand tensioner that you have to reset multiple times to get the wire tight enough. If you are making a very long wire, you can even take two and thread them through both ends.
