Pretty crazy, honestly

The only cool thing that came out was a tiny cluster of rocks, and even that was incomplete. The crystal did not grow, although I checked several sources to make sure everything was done correctly and the volcano was anticlimatic. The excavations were tough and my daughter lost interest as it was very difficult to dig through the shapes. And no, it doesn't include all the other 15 experiments as advertised. waste in general

Pros
  • That's amazing
Cons

Instruction is wrong

We only tried the volcano. The instructions are wrong and it messed up the experiment. After you mix the patch it says to leave it on for 1 minute. We did that and in less than a minute the plaster was stuck to the mixing bowl and we couldn't build the volcano. The instructions also send you to the website to watch a video on how to do this experiment, but the website does not have this video. All in all, Ellie's daughter was very disappointed.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Doubt

Birthday present for my great granddaughter

No gift box but arrived on time. She was so excited about this gift as she loves science and geography just before her birthday so her mom could wrap it in science wrapping paper for me. Unfortunately, there were no items in the box and she was sad about that. and told me about it on the phone. HOW STRANGE and disappointing, and on her birthday. I don't know if I trust National Geographer anymore as they have never sent her National Geographic children's subscriptions in the past either.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design

Versatile and fun kit

With schools closed due to the virus outbreak I bought this as a gift for my eight year old niece. I thought it might offer some science based activities and help break up a day at home with her grandparents. All three enjoyed all the experiments and activities. They all require adult supervision, so they really aren't meant for kids to do on their own. But they're all safe and come with good instructions, and you only need a few extra things to make them work (it's all listed in the…

So much fun! Worth every penny spent!

This science kit is amazing! We decided to do one or two and then save more for another day. So far magnetic clay is so much fun! He jumps up and you can see him grab the magnet! Sand sculptures and sand games are also great fun! It's so therapeutic when the sand just slips through your fingers. The kids really enjoyed making all the shapes out of it. There's one that's a bit difficult to make and keep in shape, but it's good to have a challenge for it. Next comes hydrophobic sand. The children

  • No automatic control

Very good! But don't trust the instructions 100%.

My kids loved it. But, NOTE: 1. The instructions say to wait 1 minute for the patch to harden a little. NOT, regular plaster hardens faster. The waiting time (if any) depends on the speed at which you knead it. My advice: don't wait at all. Once everything is mixed and not too runny (most likely immediately), pour into the mold. Can seep a little at the seams, but that's normal.2. If you want to do an archaeological dig, put some tiny dinosaur toys in the mold immediately after pouring the…

Fine. We need better labels.

The reviews were great so I bought this set for my 7 year old who loves science. He was mainly interested in creating a volcano, but I loved that he said it had 15+ actions (which is actually a bit of a stretch compared to what it actually was). When I opened the box, the tools and items were packed in random boxes and bags. We started with a volcano. The instructions say there is a video on the website that you can watch, but I couldn't find one for the volcano in this particular set. It took…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Every week we conduct different science experiments and buy National Geographic and other brands. National Geographic sets like this are very nicely packaged in a lovely box with a lovely booklet with instructions and information on each activity. My only disappointment was that the instructions aren't as clear as some other brands I've used. For example, the components are not listed on the page with photos showing what each item is. So for an experiment it could say "something or something"…

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Frequency

fun kit! Better for older kids or family fun

Im impressed with this science experimentation kit. I love how many experiments are included in this set. The kit includes a small booklet with clear instructions on how to conduct the experiments. In my opinion, this set is geared more towards children aged 10 and over. It looks like this age group can get through this with minimal help. My kids are younger, older is 7 and I think we could go through some of these together but he will definitely need help. He's really looking forward to trying

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
