When I first received this brace I had trouble putting it on. And it was extremely uncomfortable. It seemed too small to me, but when I ordered it I measured my foot very carefully to fit the orthosis properly. So I would only wear it for about 5-10 minutes at a time. Eventually I gave up and put it in the closet. A few weeks later I dug it up again and decided to try again. It took much longer than I expected for my brace to finally adjust to my leg. It took almost a month but the orthosis finally broke and actually fitted my foot ALMOST perfectly. The bottom of my brace actually needs to be a bit longer as I have really big, powerful calves which causes the bottom of the brace to slope down right where my calves are widest. Even when I'm standing upright, the bottom of the brace tilts back about 10 degrees to accommodate the calf muscles. This bandage works best when worn as tightly as possible. At first I felt like my foot was put on a large clip, but as it broke and fitted my foot better, it became much more comfortable to wear. Now I can wear it all day. It has almost eliminated all the pain in my knee. I wore shackles because I'm a retired Navy veteran. The steel decks of ships are very hard on the knees, which wears down the cartilage faster than it should. This brace is more comfortable and provides better support than the braces of the past. I'm glad I didn't give up.
