Due to age/mileage I decided to replace the entire exhaust system on my '01 Subaru when the catalytic converter burned out after a pretty solid 20 years of service. We have to praise, the part fits perfectly and is easy to screw on with screws. However, the welds on this particular part were so bad that within an hour of driving the car started to sound like wheezing with the tailpipe again. After putting it back on the lift to find out what went wrong I found that everything was fine except the welds near the exhaust headers were full of holes and gas was blowing out the sides in many places. I'm a welder and I can just take the damn thing off, cut off the heat shields and re-weld the whole thing. But with a brand new part, I don't necessarily have to do that. I am currently checking return options.
