This pencil sharpener was probably the perfect product on a designer's drawing board. Unfortunately for consumers, the actual product is too thin to do the job we expect it to do. Even if you insert the pencil very gently but firmly enough to start the sharpener motor, the pencil will get stuck in the blade and stop the whole process. I threw away the motor mechanism and left the blade part in. Now it works by turning the pencil by hand just like we did with the little CHEAP ones the Japanese made in the 20th century. Designers must fix the most important weaknesses, by working with prototypes in pre-production. In this case they didn't.
