Review on πŸƒ Polar OH1+ Optical HR Sensor: Bluetooth/ANT+ Connectivity for Accurate Heart Rate Tracking by Panos Jordan

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Works well again after repair/replacement with Polar. No complaints.

UPDATE: I was finally able to contact Polar. Sent them a monitor and got it pretty quickly. I'm not sure if they repaired or replaced my broken one. I haven't had any issues since the warranty was met so I'm increasing my rating from one star. Definitely much better chest monitor. much more convenient. ################################################# # ##################################### For many years I had nothing but disappointment from heart rate monitors , mainly due to the difficulty of replacing the battery. Putting on the chest strap is also tedious/uncomfortable. After reading many reviews and getting recommendations from friends, I bought this monitor. In three months I couldn't be happier! Easy to slip on and off before and after workouts (mostly Zwift rides my Wahoo KICKR). Fits well even though I was wearing a tight long sleeve shirt. Easy connection via Bluetooth with the Zwift app. The heart rate data appeared to be accurate. Knowing that I can easily track my heart rate with this monitor only increased my enthusiasm for Zwift workouts. And it was great to have a rechargeable battery (see below: THE MAGIC of changing batteries in Polar chest monitors). Then, a few weeks ago, the device suddenly stopped working. At first I thought I wasn't charging it enough between rides. But after overnight charging again, no difference - the green light comes on, indicating the battery is fully charged - but doesn't turn on. And then NO RESPONSE from Polar, despite contacting customer support several times via web and email and providing the serial number of the hy OH1+. So I'm giving up and writing this 1 star review... I really thought I finally found the perfect heart rate monitor after all these years, but I think it's back to the drawing board now... PS Re: Chest Monitors - Formerly there were three Polar chest heart rate monitors that worked to different degrees at different times. It all ended up being unusable because repeated attempts to open the back with a coin wore down the plastic, eventually making it impossible to open the battery... Still works - if only I could put a new battery in - but it does is useless day to put no removable battery.

Pros
  • Heart Rate Monitor
Cons
  • Requires outlet
