When I bought them I assumed they were actually equivalent to 40 watts. After all, the output of an LED is typically around 9 times that of an equivalent incandescent lamp. That's 4W. Therefore they should correspond to about 9x4=36W, i.e. 40W. Not 25 watts. Sure enough, they're a lot brighter than the 25W incandescent bulbs I used to replace them - in fact, they were about (surprise surprise) 40W equivalent brightness to my eye. The good news is that this appears to be a very well made lamp with a very good LED module. They behave very well under a dimmer, as does an incandescent lamp. So you are very good. Be aware, and it should come as no surprise, that a 4W LED bulb is *NEVER* the equivalent of 25W. It's definitely the 40 watt equivalent, way brighter than 25. Can't complain too much --- I knew there was a 95% chance it was a bargain when I ordered it. I hope I saved you trouble.
