I have to admit it was a total impulse buy. I already own an eight-year-old ASUS PB Series PB278Q 27-inch monitor, which was considered a professional PLS monitor for those who do video and photo editing. In this regard, buying a Samsung VA panel can be seen as a step backwards from PLS. Logically, if I want to get a widescreen monitor and keep the picture quality I'm used to, one of LG's IPS monitors would be a good choice. However, I clicked the 'Add to Cart' button. for this Samsung. Whether it was the price, the QLED marketing hype, or a combination of features that made me pull the trigger I don't really know. I had a few reservations when I bought it. 1) the fact that it was a VA panel 2) a bunch of reviews with broken pixels 3) severe monitor bending. how pretty noticeable. I'm playing a video game with a window in the top left corner. It is green in color with large bevels that have a slightly different shade of green. For some reason there is a noticeable color inversion between the window and the bevel when you turn your head a few degrees. It's fine unless you're using the monitor for serious graphics or photo editing. 2) No dead pixels. Overall the production seems pretty good (for $650, I hope so!) 3) I was very concerned about the curvature as I've never used a curved monitor. I see both pros and cons of curved monitors. Well after a week of use it feels all natural. Never underestimate the human animal to adapt when given enough time. Other thoughts. Make sure your table is deep enough. The forward-facing stand and curved back make the actual depth of the monitor quite large. The built-in speakers aren't that bad. It is quite enough for voice and Skype calls, music is not very good. The screen's matte surface is quite modest. While it's excellent at eliminating ambient reflections, any light source behind you, like a window or lamp, will be a brilliant spot on your screen. You need to position the monitor and arrange the lighting as if it were shiny. Widescreen games with free sync were a significant improvement over 16:9 and vertical sync only. Works fine on Linux Mint. Conclusion An excellent monitor for those who use their PC for office work, email, web surfing and gaming. This is suitable for those of us who play with photo/video editing and other graphics applications. For those who do graphic design or video editing professionally, or for those who do it as a hobby but take it very seriously, this monitor (or any VA panel) may not be the right choice.
