My main issues with this drum drill bit are the hard and thin plastic handle and the snake locking mechanism. Gloves, in 2 sessions in a row where I was using a whole 50 foot snake with some compound clogs (so many strong grips on the grip) I saw that the area of my thumb that the grip was pressing against my skin was completely torn, leading to an uncomfortable open sore that only recently finally started to heal (more than a week has passed). Knowing this, I plan to tape the handle with a washcloth so we'll have to reuse it every time in the future. Another issue, the thumbscrew locking mechanism, is mostly related to ease of use. I had another drain auger with a quick "flip" mechanism that only made the process faster (especially if you're really focused on moving just a few inches at a time). Not only does this thumbscrew take longer to turn, it forces you to constantly make sure you're tightening it enough (a couple of times it wasn't tight enough and I ended up putting the snake back into the drum). ). Plus, it's just extra stress on your hands and fingers that can literally become a pain over time. If you add an extra pad to the grip like I plan to do, I think for the price it's still worth buying.
