Genie with Homelink setup

Have used a Genie garage door opener for many years. I just got a car with Homelink (programming for garage of cars). Couldn't get the remotes I had with the opener to work with Homelink at all. After research (there is also a video about this) two things should be right. A Genie garage door opener must have a certain minimum serial number (check on the Genies website) in order for it to work, and (2) - a remote opener (i.e. looks like this device here) cannot have software version 2.0.3. It's not software you install or firmware you can update, it's a number that fits into the plastic when you remove the metal clip (just pops out and the number is listed as SW:2.0.X. If X 3 is (e.g. SW 2.0 .3) then forget about trying to program the homelink This will NOT work I tried several times and finally found information on why (I had SW 2.0.3) The geniuses claim it won't work you have to change the remotes i bought this new remote (it was in sw 2.0.5) and it programmed the machine and worked fine the first time as a side note if you first get this new remote on the genie need to program opener and then when it works you can customize your car Also I programmed all 3 buttons on the remote so I don't have to guess which one will open the door (sounds trivial, but didn't know you can program all 3 buttons on the remote the same way (winged).
