Review on πŸš— VIKING Automotive Grit Trap Bucket Insert for Optimal Car Wash and Detailing, Effectively Removes Dirt and Debris from Microfiber, Mitts, Cloths, and Sponges, Blue by Daniel Pierce

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Smaller diameter than original, not ideal

They are slightly smaller in diameter than the original branded sand traps. Not good because I use them on the originals with Napa auto parts pails and they stop about 5-6 inches from the bottom of those particular pails (they are a bit narrower than the standard 5 gallon pails). This is great because it allows a lot more water to get under the protective cover, giving more room for dirt to settle to the bottom of the bucket. With a sand guard about 2 inches from the bottom, like this viking, you're more likely to splash dirty water and dirt back onto your glove if you try to use the sand guard as a washboard to clean. out of your glove. And if you throw your mitten in the bucket while rinsing the section, it will end up in the dirty water. That's why I'd rather have a security guard sitting about halfway on certain buckets like the ones from Napa. With around 5 gallon buckets there won't be any difference, but I think it's worth finding a narrower bucket and using the original sand guard. I will send it back and buy the brand name.

Pros
  • Catches dirt at the bottom of the wash bucket to keep your car cleaner during the wash
