I don't have a DVD drive in my case but I have 6 hard drives that are all 3.5" occupy shafts. I run my operating system off an SSD and while there are no moving parts and I could easily place it on another hard drive, I wanted to mount my SSD in a location where most people have DVD drives. That's where this mounting adapter comes in. I have the black version. Constructed entirely of fairly thick aluminum and powder coated for long lasting colour, it's durable and well built. It allows you to install 2.5 or 3.5 HDD/SSD on the bracket and then easily install in 5.25 bay. All holes fit perfectly, the thread is good. They even included mounting screws of different sizes to make installation easier. In summary this is a great product. I would recommend it to anyone trying to clean mount a 2.5 drive into a 5.25 bay. I would use a different type of 3.5" drive mounting adapter to allow better airflow around the drive.
