I had a very reliable Marcum LX-i for many years until the display started to fog up. Since it was half the price of Marcum, I decided to try the HawkEye DT1H. The first time I used it on ice I drilled a few holes and fished in the spot before I knew it was going to be around 22-25 feet. The first hole showed approximately 19 feet and the second hole showed a whopping 68 feet. Remember these holes are only 4 feet apart. I went back to the first hole that used to be 19 feet and now it was over 30 feet and the second hole was now 36 feet. I didn't use it until the end of the day and sent it back for a full refund. It was on an inland lake with a relatively hard bottom and no running water. The transparency of the water is also very transparent. I will buy another Marcum LX-i.
