Review on BenQ EW3270U 31.5-Inch Monitor with FreeSync – 3840X2160P, USB Hub, High Dynamic Range, Blue Light Filter, Flicker-Free by Matt Whatley

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for the price but slow on performance like almost every competitor

Materials, equipment, quality and packaging are first class. Absolutely no complaints about that. Or maybe a trifle: whenever it starts receiving input, it should display the signal's resolution and refresh rate. This is extremely useful for both professional and geek users. The reason I give 4 stars is because this monitor is slow. It has 4 inputs - 1x USB-C, 1x DP and 2x HDMI. Guess what? I use it with two devices and need to switch input between them. The automatic input detection function does not work because a device is always on (never stops sending a signal). So I have to manage manually. The buttons respond in 1 second, which is too much for the era of responsive smartphone interfaces. And whenever the monitor loses signal because a device is off, the screen goes blank (not blank, actually turns off) and then 3-5 seconds with no button response or input detection. Painful! The monitor is also slow to detect changes in resolution, making it difficult to see startup screens from workstations that alternate between text screens and low-resolution screens. If you need to press the BIOS button, you should know this beforehand, or just connect a VGA monitor. This seems to be standard in the industry. Nobody cares about customizing and customizing UX. They only care about the image, refresh rate, etc.
