I have tile floor throughout the downstairs of our house. I also have a 3 legged dog who loves to jump up and off the furniture. I purchased this rug to be placed in front of the couch so that it will prevent my dog from slipping and possibly hurting herself further. The rug is thick and very soft and she actually loves laying on it while chewing on her bone as it provides additional friction to help her hold it while chewing. Although this isn't the type of review you were expecting, I do have these rugs in my bathroom as well and they are absorbent. The backer is not as thick and causes the rug to move and bunch and would be my only negative comment about the piece. I love the color and everything else is good.
