I installed the V1 unit in my car and bought a separate suction cup so I could alternatively install it in my truck. The mount has a dense, durable design with excellent suction and attaches securely to the windshield. The rotatable mounting hole for V1 fits perfectly and fixes the dash cam very well. Again, the build is pretty solid and tight and should do the job just fine. Note that the V1 mounting hole and the suction cup mounting shaft are closely matched. I've noticed that after installing and removing the two devices a number of times, the V1 isn't as tight against the car mount. It's not a good idea to transport a DVR between cars. Attaching and detaching the DVR will eventually result in loosening and lateral movement, apparently due to surface friction of the plastic material. I temporarily fixed a small problem with a small piece of tape. So I eliminate all problems forever by ordering a DVR for my truck - just like that. I can say that the suction cup is very good - I think it will work great if used as a main attachment.
