Clearly bad crimping process of the connector
Using a wattmeter with a portable transceiver, I found that shaking the cable near the connector at both ends induces an open/short condition with 100% reflected signal became. Since this happened on both ends, the issue appears to be due to a poor crimping action on the connector. Replacing this cable with another tested one is 100% OK, even if the cable wiggles. I returned this item for a refund.
