Review on VDO 333 158 Tachometer Gauge by George Bridgewater

Adjustable tachometer. Works great

1989 Dodge 250LE Cummins Diesel 4X4 5.9. Great tachometer. Works perfectly and is VERY adjustable. If you have a diesel, a traditional tachometer will not work. You need to connect the sensor wire to one of the stator bolts/wires on the generator, which is quite simple. I have a digital photo tach and when idling it was 680rpm. So the solution is to play around with the PIN switches on the back of the tachometer to slow it down to below 1000rpm and if you are within the adjustable range from 30% to 100%, he reads it off exactly. The assembly instructions are a bit confusing. The instructions state that the pin switches for the alternator should be in the #1 OFF, #2 OFF, and #3 OFF positions: This configuration resulted in inaccurate RPM readings and I was unable to calibrate. What worked for my engine was #1 OFF, #2 OFF, and #3 ON. Just mix the pins to match and you'll be fine. Now my tachometer is 100% correct and fits in my 52mm pod.
