I just tried this HydraPak out on a wilderness hunting trip, and used it in conjunction with the Katadyn screw on water filter. All in all it's a great product; very light weight, collapses nicely to fit in my pack's zipper pocket, and the Katadyn filter is far faster than my original water filter which is the Katadyn hand-pump style. The old pump filter would take a good 15 minutes to assemble, pump, and disassemble. The HydraPak with Katadyn screw on filter is extremely fast; you just fill the water bladder with creek water, screw on the filter, squeeze and drink.however, filling the HydraPak turned out to be a problem. When submersed the HydraPak collapses under the pressure of the surrounding water, making it impossible to fill by dunking straight in. After some experimentation in the field I realized the only way to fill it is to hold the bottle horizontally by the carry handle and quickly drag it through water open end forward. It takes about five to six passes like this before it is filled nearly full. This is why the four stars. If your water supply is too shallow to do this then it is impossible to fill the HydraPak. Please be aware of this and practice using it before committing yourself to using it in the field!
