I bought this smartphone mount because Tech Armor uses four N45 NEODIMIUM magnets instead of the more common ferrite magnets used in some magnetic phone mounts. Neodymium magnets are also known as "rare earth magnets" and Tech Armor uses N45 in this holder. Without going into scientific terms, neodymium magnets in this category are rated from N35 to N52. In general, the higher the "N" number, the stronger the magnetic attraction. Strong but not too strong magnets are needed to keep the phone in place and not accidentally fall out of the holder. So the N45's four magnets are a reasonable balance between grip strength and ease of removing the phone from the cradle. I was concerned that the strength of the N45's magnets might cause visible glitches on the smartphone's screen, but this didn't happen. I glued the Tech Armor peelable backing (included) directly to the cell and very thin 3M adhesive metal. The plate (included) was attached to the inside of the smartphone case. Unless your phone case is of the thick (armored) type, the metal plate attachment inside the case should fit most smartphones. I didn't buy this smartphone holder for my car. Instead, I use the mount on the nightstand next to the bed. This allows me to watch video content on my smartphone hands-free while lying in bed. The holder's suction cup works very well, but since the surfaces of some bedside tables are not smooth enough for the holder's suction cup to maintain a constant grip, I attached the holder to a small mirror as a base (see a portrait in landscape slightly for the angle of the Holder is adjustable in two places: a free-movement hinge and an additional lever that moves sideways.Overall, I recommend this product with confidence, it will satisfy most users' needs.
