Common fix for "dirty " or clumsy shifts with gear selector and switch failure

Common problem on GM trucks, particularly 2007-2014 Tahoe/Suburban (and GMC/Cadillac equivalents) and 2007-2013 Sierra and Silverado is that the gear selector upshifts and downshifts are very rough. It can be difficult to toggle or there seems to be something interfering with the switch. This was present on my 2008 Chevy Tahoe 4WD and eventually the system failed completely and the car could only shift to drive up or to drive down. low gears rendering it inoperable (because the vehicle cannot be started in any position other than neutral or park). A common mistake is for the two split shifter cables from the column to the transmission to fail where the upper and lower cables meet, under the driver's seat on the underside of the truck. The repair consists of replacing both cables. Use the OEM parts website to verify the correct wire numbers, both wires swapped and the truck shifts like the first day after buying a new car, the seller sent the part quickly and on time. He arrived on time which allowed me to have my car repaired and returned to me.
