I've been using similar brands of Velcro on my boat for 10 years. You're not exposed to the elements while sailing, but get plenty of sun and rain in the summer when the boat is moored. They last a season or two before dissipating, mainly due to UV exposure. I bought the Envisioned because they were a bit longer and felt more durable. The specified length of 40 inches is basically meaningless. When dressing, you should pay attention to the minimum and maximum circumference. The minimum size is 20.75 inches and the maximum size is 34 inches. The grip area of the Envisioned is significantly larger than the Velcro. 5.5 inches compared to 3.5 inches, giving the Envisioned more strength as long as the rest of the materials can handle the load. Velcro glues the two sections together, while the Envisioned appears to use a thermal bonding system. The glue method is the main disadvantage. It remains to be seen how thermal bonding will hold the elements together. I tested the strength of the Envisioned strap. See attached photos. My goal wasn't to find out the maximum weight it could handle, just to see if it could handle more weight than I could ever muster. What came in handy for testing was a 38-pound all-propane tank. It stays as intended without a groan, so I'm sure durability won't be an issue for me. Intended seems to be made from heavier materials than velcro so I expect a longer lifespan. The time will show.
