Many reviewers have pointed out that the original dome/cap cannot be easily removed because it is stuck and I was no exception. Before starting this repair, I spent a lot of time reading reviews, questions and answers, and watching repair videos. Never mentioned a Delta RP20587 removal key. After this repair I did another sink faucet repair using the same dome/top. Again I used everything in my arsenal (penetrating oil, heat, any wrench) to remove it and nothing worked. While researching more about another tool, I came across a Delta RP20587 Removal Key. It's even available on Delta's website, but is never mentioned in the instructions for repair kits that require dome removal. Now that I've used it, the tool is absolutely AMAZING and great value, less than $10, and Revain shipped it the next day. I was curious as to why it's only listed for Chrome, but the instructions say it may not work with "other colors due to the special finish of the coatings". I needed a rubber mallet to make sure the tool completely covered the chrome wedges because it's really tight (which is why it works). The dome was severely stuck in the tool when it came loose, but when I pulled it out I was amazed that there was absolutely no damage to the tool wedges or any other damage to the chrome (apart from what I already had). tightened with wrenches).
