Review on Foredom 5400 Motor Woodcarving Kit: Unleash Your Creativity with Precision and Power by Adam Johnson

Flexible shaft is too brittle/brittle and often breaks

I went through Dremel like they were going out of style. I thought it would be a good thing to invest in something more professional. So I bought a Foredom TX and just kept breaking waves. I hang it over my head to reduce tight bends and still got through 3 shafts in about 5 uses. Of course when using it I've been working for several hours with multiple attachments (wood carving) and have made sure the shaft comes out of the sleeve exactly 3/4 inch and fresh lube. on the cable, but the rod keeps breaking. I use expensive bits - it doesn't seem to matter if I'm collecting material or doing very delicate work, the rod has broken at various times. and replacement time (15 minutes) you must have plenty of spare shafts on hand. Order in bulk. Or you can do what I did and get a 1/4 inch air cap grinder and go to Harbor Freight and buy their $6 high carbon rotary rasp and be done with it. Very disappointed with the fragility of the Foredom's flex shaft.
