They have a cotton lining so are perfect for the cold season, both the waist and hem have a closed elastic band so they fit snugly and keep cold air out, the waist can also be tightened with a drawstring. My son is currently wearing a 4T and they are a little longer for him but they are a size 4-5, the elastic on the legs also keeps them from falling onto his shoes so he can wear them with ease. One of the downsides is that the fabric collects lint/hair from either our furniture (animals) or the washing machine itself.
