The microphone is not very good

This was a birthday present for my son, I thought I would upgrade from his cheaper headset. His friends immediately noticed that he had changed his headset because the microphone sound quality was very poor. It sounded hoarse and distant. I give him a 2 because he said the sound in the headphones was good. So I guess if you don't need a mic?
