Review on πŸ”¦ 2W Sunlite A19 LED Blacklight Bulb by Paul Dye

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For people who are good with real UV (not about making my room blue) this is almost perfect

perfect for my porch UV display. For reference, I fence off my porch to keep it pitch black and specially treat props to make them glow in UV light. Contrary to popular misconception, not everything "white" has to glow - when raw white objects glow it means you actually have bad UV light that emits too much visible blue/violet light. With that lightbulb as a spotlight aimed at the props, the porch remained pitch black while the props "flashed" only about 8 feet away - I might actually cover the lightbulb with some kind of mesh next year to dim it a bit . The benefit is that it stays cool so I have more flexibility in positioning the devices. To be honest, this might not be enough if you're trying to create a black light effect in an area that wasn't originally dark. For my outdoor displays under a streetlight, I use a pair of theater-grade 48-inch BLB fluorescent tubes, but then you're talking a lot more money and a less convenient mounting bracket.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • boring packaging
