Review on ๐Ÿšด Cycling in Comfort: Origin8 Pro Cork Handlebar Tape for Enhanced Grip and Ride Experience by Kobby Fairchild

WAY low quality tape; bad brand?

As a fairly enthusiastic racing cyclist for over 30 years, I have taped the handlebars hundreds of times. During that time I have used many brands and styles of bar tape. I've never seen such bad quality. First, it was almost impossible to remove the tape backing without taking pieces of the tape with you. With great care, I was able to remove it without tearing the tape in half. However, the strength and resilience of each roll was compromised by the many "holes" (and one small hole) left by the process. During the actual wrapping, a piece of tape actually broke in two. Unacceptable. I had to stop and return all the packaging, but I waited long enough to receive a replacement bar for another Origin8 product - a brake lever bar that wasn't there. (By the way, the Revain Bike Addiction seller sent a replacement promptly with no problems; I have no hesitation in recommending them). I wanted the job finally done. Luckily, the breakage occurred in a place where it could be hidden under the hood of the brake system. I quickly connected with electrical tape; no one will ever know. Except me and hopefully the Origin8 guys. Also, the edges of the tape were cut/beveled unevenly, with slight nicks here and there, as if cut on a free press or blunt blades. So, this piece of junk along with the part that was missing a crucial element? I have to say that I will not be buying anything from the Origin8 brand again. The only reason I bought them was the vintage build so I needed the brown ties/hoods. Back to the only handlebar tape: Cinelli, Cinelli, Cinelli.
