I take protein powder in conjunction with my workouts and to keep me full on active days. I'm not a vegetarian and I also use MRM Natural Whey Protein. This vegan MRM protein is the best powder I've ever had. I love it. I really long for it sometimes. I eat almost no sugar in my diet, so I enjoy the high sweetness of the powder. I toss a scoop of the powder in a travel mug with a cup of water and a few ice cubes and shake thoroughly and it's well blended, incredibly creamy and delicious. It's more expensive than whey powder, but tastes much better and provides a more balanced protein supply. Sometimes I mix it with a serum to get that effect. Also consider the cost of 22 grams of quality protein per meal. Natural meats cost a few dollars a serving, and plant-based protein sources aren't that much cheaper. Soy products are not nearly as nutritious to justify their low price. So, for a dollar a serving, I'm getting quality protein at mealtimes.
