Review on Janome Computerized Extension Instructional Buttonhole by Doris Tran

I've made quite a few simple baby blankets and other simple items over the years on my grandmother's 1960's Viking Husqvarna. It was a bit annoying to use. I just received my Janome and I'm so impressed! The box arrived undamaged. All parts were present and easy to spot from the owner's manual. The DVD includes a quick start guide for the machine so you can be sewing in just minutes. Refueling the car is easy as each step is numbered on the car. It also includes detailed and easy maintenance instructions - just a few steps. super easy! The computer screen is VERY easy to use once you understand a few graphics. I've practiced many of the stitches that come with the machine. Each stitch has a recommended sewing foot that is identified with a letter on the foot itself, making it easy to get it right! I kicked a light quilt out of a jelly roll in two hours. The machine is quiet, the presser foot moves through tough, layered fabrics without snagging, and threading the bobbin has never been easier. My only complaint is that I have trouble with the automatic needle threader because the hook is so small - I either don't thread it properly or the needle hole is misaligned. Also, there is a slight delay from stepping on the pedal to turning on and accelerating the machine. When I finally press the power button, there is a one to two second delay before the lights come on and the unit sounds "power on". If you don't wait you'll be flipping the switch on and off with some confusion. I'm looking forward to sewing Crafty! If you're a serious beginner like me, this is a great machine for its simplicity and advanced quilting/embroidery and other things you can do with the machine. In addition to sewing machines, it's fast! I've also moved on to more elaborate blankets. I cleaned the machine from lint and lint twice, again it's easy to do. I changed the needle as recommended, which only took a few seconds. Now I've easily got 50 hours on the car and it's still fantastic. I also use a free motion quilting foot and it worked great - it's just a hassle struggling with the layers and moving them around the restricted neck.
