Works as advertised with a 12 " Macbook, but check your computer's specs first.

USB-C devices are sometimes hit or miss, but this one seems to do what it says on the tin - power and accommodate a small laptop with HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, and two USB 3.0 ports. Although it Being limited to wired USB 3.0 speeds (i.e. only 5 gigabits per second of total available bandwidth), I was able to successfully drive a 1080p display by pushing data over Ethernet and running the test drive speed on one of the USB ports. It was load balanced but overall performance was as expected Unfortunately the ethernet port needs a driver but otherwise everything else worked when plugged in. I was able to charge my Macbook , by connecting the power adapter to the USB-C port on the back of the Startech device. Please note that the USB-C port is for power only and does not transfer data or video. Please note: USB-C is a bit of a mess right now, with manufacturers potentially implementing the standard in different ways. Therefore, you'll need to do a little research beforehand to ensure your computer's USB-C port can transfer data, display, and power at the same time. Some make all three while others are picky - it all depends on the manufacturer. Also, the maximum output is 60W - which is what you would normally expect from a small laptop like a small Macbook. Larger devices like my 15-inch Macbook Pro and Dell XPS 15 require more power. In these cases, the following happens. Your laptop is drawing power from the battery or not charging the battery to fill its power needs when running resource-intensive applications.

Pros
