I've read about Chinese contract manufacturers substituting quality products for inferior ones after building a relationship and becoming the preferred supplier. Given the high ratings this chair received (which is why I bought it), I can only assume that's the case. The fit is terrible. I was about to buy furniture clips to attach this seat to the backrest. Upon closer inspection, however, this chair is not assembled. The screws come out of the seat and tilt inside out. The outer snails have the most pronounced pitch. Molded plastic base tilts in just the opposite direction. This means that the screws are screwed in at the wrong angle, even if they seem to fit at first glance. I can't tell if this is due to delay in shipping or poor quality control at the factory. I suspect the latter.
