I bought this a while ago but I've never had a gas leak so I really didn't know how well it worked. This morning I smelled gas in the basement. Got it, plugged it in, and it "alarmed" like crazy. The closer I got to the cauldron, the louder it got. I called the gas company and sure enough I have a gas leak from my boiler. He found the problem and blocked the gas supply to my boiler. It's been an hour since he left and all the windows in my basement are open and this thing is still detecting gas in the air. I'm amazed at how delicate this thing really is.
