Review on Maxxair 00 955001 White Fanmate Hardware by Daniel Russell

This hood was purchased to cover a new Maxair 4000 fan that I have just installed. You will receive two parts (hood and blinds) along with the equipment. Both parts are pretty thin. One would think that assembly by two people would not be a problem. nope The tolerances are so bad I had to tie the two pieces together to keep the blinds from flying somewhere along the way. The top slat mounting clips must snap into the hood. They just popped out of the hood with ease and didn't stay in place. Lousy design and execution to say the least. I've read reviews about the extra bug screen you can get with it and it sounds even worse than the lens hood. Instead, I decided to use attic ventilation grilles, using zip ties and a hot glue gun to attach the grille to the blinds. This worked well and made the whole assembly more stable and less brittle. The biggest plus is that the color matches my other cases and it took four pins to attach. It attaches to existing grommets on the Maxxair device. There aren't really many housing options, especially if you want them to match your existing hubcaps. Just be aware of the cons.
