Some motherboards I've built for people didn't have heatsinks on the NVMe slot. I'm sure it was a cost measure on the manufacturer's part, but it still didn't account for thermal migration. Newer NVMe SSDs are great, but usually generate heat due to speed and proximity to the CPU or graphics card. These were good and inexpensive alternatives for heat dissipation from 2280 NVMe drives. I don't have the sensors to give exact stats, but suffice it to say they reduced NVMe slot heating. It came in a 2 pack with thermal padding so all in all for under $10 it was a steal!
