I blame the vinyl
I don't know if the problem is with the vinyl or if my Cricut is cutting at different depths but it doesn't seem able to make a decision. On the same project I have cuts that go all the way through the vinyl backing which makes it difficult to peel off and then there are a few spots where the vinyl didn't cut all the way through so it's a mess. weed things.
