I only use it to play MP3s on my car radio so this drive is fast enough. The only downside is that it doesn't lock in the "out" position. So if you hold onto the protective case when trying to insert the drive into the USB port, the drive will slip back a little when it's firmly seated. This results in the device being unable to read the disc. However, if you hold the back of the disc when you insert it, it will slide in all the way and the device will have no problem reading it.
